It’s a little amazing how far my career has taken me. I was recently in New York, on special assignment to help open our new flagship boutique. But my time at Nespresso started in San Francisco. I kept walking by a boutique when I was working elsewhere, and something about it just drew me in. It was beautiful, so well designed, and the people were so nice and inviting. Then I tried the coffee and fell in love!
I just kept going back because it was so nice and everyone felt genuinely happy to me. Then a previous boss of mine recommended me for a position as an Assistant Boutique Manager, and the rest is history.
What keeps me here is pretty simple – I just have a lot of fun. There isn’t anywhere else that I could go that would be this much fun for me. The product is amazing, the people are amazing. We are always looking to do new thing and to be innovative in the retail space. Those things combined mean that I can do something amazing in customer service. It’s not often that you get to really change a person’s day like when you get them that perfect up of coffee, that’s what I help do here.
Speaking of the customers, I love the customer interaction. We really get to take care of them. The people that I meet here, and the people that I work with, have a lot of connection and a lot of passion. Everyone in the boutiques really lives the Nespresso mission of coffee and customer service excellence.
We are always thinking about what comes next, what’s around the corner for the product, for the stores, for the customers, also, what’s next for your career? Honestly, it’s great that we are encouraged to think that way. Nespresso wants its employees to grow right along with the company.
Staying in that mindset means you have to be passionate to work here, and you have to have the ability to handle change. As a group, we are very innovative. There are new coffees, capsule collections, ways of doing retail – change happens all the time. To me it’s exciting that there is always something new.
